On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, my partner and I gave up our day off of school and braced the cold weather to share the stories and views of King Day at the Dome participants in Downtown Columbia to our student body.
Get to Know Give Jalen a Lift
Working by myself, I used an interview from Jalen and his favorite teacher to inform the school of the Give Jalen a Lift fundraiser. The Special Needs Department was raising money to give Jalen a wheelchair lift for his mom's van, enabling him to travel more.
Give Jalen a Lift
A follow up to my previous story, I traveled to a local restaurant to capture the community helping Jalen. I got interviews from his mother, teacher, caretaker, and friend, showing their love and appreciation for Jalen and the community.
Tour of Spirit Communications Park
I was given the unique opportunity to tour Spirit Communications Park before the inaugural Opening Day. I incorporated information from a Media Relations Specialist with footage of the beautiful park to give students an inside look at the new jewel of Columbia.
Singing Valentines
I included this story to show how I overcome obstacles. There were audio issues due to the location of the classroom, so I drew the attention away from audio issues with natural sound of the chorus singing.
